I have released a new version of my first ever published mobile application. It has happened 4 years ago on 4th October 2022. Now this app has the main upgrade which includes multiple updates of UI.

It is more simple to look at it than to describe all new updates in words.

What’s new in version 4:

  • A completely refreshed design with glossy 3D circles, gradients, animations and an improved dark mode.
  • Enhanced gameplay feedback and smoother interactions.
  • Rebalanced game durations.
  • An optional reminder of the game rules before each game.
  • Redesigned game settings and records screens.
  • And one small anniversary tradition: every 4 October, AP Funny Circles is completely ad-free.

More than just tapping circles

AP Funny Circles consists of simple colour-based games, but these simple mechanics can exercise several useful skills.

For younger players, the games can help practise colour recognition and distinction, visual attention, hand–eye coordination, simple rule comprehension and pattern recognition. Short game sessions can also encourage concentration and quick visual decision-making.

For adults, the app can simply be a lightweight and relaxing visual game — something to play for a few minutes without complicated rules or a long learning curve.

The games may also help parents notice if a child repeatedly struggles to distinguish certain colours, although AP Funny Circles is not a medical colour-vision test and should not be used to diagnose colour blindness.

Four years after publishing my first app, I am still improving it — and version 4 is probably the biggest visual change AP Funny Circles has had so far.
